Originally built in 1967, Beech Court is a purpose built sheltered housing complex which was once earmarked for demolition having undergone only essential maintenance over several years. However, following a review the Council decided to retain the building as part of their strategy to provide good quality, well managed and accessible housing.
The building comprises of two interlinked blocks which house 19 flats across two floors. A further single storey warden’s bungalow houses ancillary areas such as a laundry, management office and kitchen. There is also an adjacent single-storey boiler room.
Flats are to remain occupied during the work, therefore our delivery programme is both efficient and considerate to respect the needs of residents, on-site staff and visitors.
Improvement and statutory compliance works took place in both internal and external areas and included:
- Roofing and guttering repairs.
- Re-pointing and re-rendering.
- Replacement of floor coverings.
- New bathrooms and kitchens to flats.
- Refurb of communal laundry rooms.
- Re-plaster and re-decoration.
- Widening of footpaths and installation of ramps.
- Replacement of fire doors.
- Upgrades to fire alarm and emergency lighting systems.
- Hard landscaping works.
