Client: Blaby District Council

Project Value: £1.0m | Location: Narborough, Leicestershire

Mercer Building Solutions were appointed by Blaby District Council to deliver the first phase of a three-year refurbishment programme at their Civic Offices in Narborough.

The original building had been altered over the years to deal with accessibility and functional changes, however no significant investment into the building fabric had been made, resulting in constant maintenance and high running costs. Works were divided into four stages which included:

  • The remodelling of the existing entrance and relocation of the IT training suite to provide easier access for members of the community.
  • Remodelling of an existing washroom area to provide a baby changing area, disabled toilet and shower facilities.
  • A new Members Room was formed by remodelling existing bar area.
  • The Civic area, comprising the Chamber and Brookes Room was refreshed to create a multi-functional space.

Upgrades were also made to lighting, heating and ventilation systems throughout the building, including the installation of new audio-visual equipment to meeting rooms.
