The construction of 21 new homes on the site of a former infant school in Stapenhill. Dwelling types are a mix of detached, semi-detached and terraced houses and bungalows with two or three bedrooms.
Before construction could start, several structures containing small areas of asbestos had to be demolished. With the appropriate segregation protocols in place, we engaged the services of a licenced subcontractor to safely remove and dispose of the asbestos in the appropriate manner.
Site-wide infrastructure works included the formation of a new shared surface road and footpath to serve the development from the existing Baker Street. A private road was also created for residents to access parking bays at the rear of the properties on Short Street.
Once completed, the regeneration of this brownfield site was recognised as a huge success. The new development not only increased the availability of local, affordable and shared ownership housing, it also rejuvenated the area for the benefit of the wider community.
