Today, three members of our team spent the morning volunteering at the Bellamy Road FOOD Club in Mansfield. The Food On Our Doorstep (FOOD) club is held each week at Trowell Court Community Centre, a stones throw from where we are constructing 22 new homes for Mansfield District Council.
Operating via a partnership between Family Action and Mansfield District Council the club provides local families with good-quality food at a low cost, whilst also reducing food waste. Members can purchase a box of tasty food items every week worth approximately £15 for just £3.50. There is also a community shop selling fresh food and store cupboard items at affordable prices – this week’s specials included frozen cod loins and Swedish meatballs!
It was humbling to see the amazing work the team does there for so many people in need. The range of items available was astonishing and we for sure cannot wait to go back and get stuck in again.
